I just found this article by the fabulous Kathleen Noonan from 2008 where she describes me as a ‘dirty-winged angel.’ The photo below taken by my friend Alicia Alit-Trevatt who photographed my entire transplant surgery was run with the article. As it happens, I did get that tattoo Kathleen writes about. It reads ‘a reminder of life’ and ‘to high places by narrow roads’ in latin. And not much has changed. I still haven’t finished my book set in 1964 Chicago, but I do have another one nearly ready to go. So much has happened since then – and mostly good stuff like finding my passion with palliative care, beating addiction and becoming a secular hospital chaplain.
^^ Mum and Sharon apparently getting the giggles about my pink nails and lips. They found it funny that they were pink after being blue for so long.
